Breaking news in milwaukee. Police are called to a shooting at 27th and clybourn after two groups started firing. As soon as we learn more, we will bring it to you. Milwaukees emergency curfew is now over. Anchor the mayor tells us its important he send a message that the situation has, as he calls it, stabilized. It was put in place for kids 17 and under after the violent unrest nine days ago. Were also learning tonight the reverend Jesse Jackson will attend Sylville Smiths funeral later this week. The 23yearold was shot and killed by a Police Officer in the hours before several businesses were set on fire in the sherman park neighborhood. News at 6 00. Colleen henry, wisn 12 news. Toya again this began saturday, august 13 when police stopped, what they called, a suspicious vehicle at 44th and auer. Officers say 23yearold Sylville Smith got out and ran from police. An officer shot and killed smith. The chief and mayor say the body camera footage shows smith was holding a gun. Smith was shot once in the chest and once in the arm. Later that night, unrest began in sherman park. Eight businesses were set on fire, seven squad cars were damaged, and four officers were injured. On sunday night, august 14, the unrest continued. An 18yearold was shot in the neck three more squads were damaged and 4 additional officers were hurt. Patrick right now, investigators are looking for this man. Hes accused of setting one of those eight businesses on fire during the unrest. Now they just got an update a couple hours ago from the Management Company and it sounds like the water coming out of the boiler is hot. Its 140 degrees but its not making it to the apartments at that temperature. So now theyre looking at the taps to see if theres a buildup problem. We watched gilda lewis run her tap more than five minutes before the water started to warm. She said its been this way since january 3. The same story with her shower. She said that for some of her neighbors a cold shower isnt just shocking its dangerous. They have walkers and scooters and have to have someone help them.
