Right now. We have inspectors out there that do them on a complaint driven basis and systematically as required by the San Francisco housing code but let me tell you what were doing in addition to all of that. When department of building inspection saw a cluster of fires occurring in the mission we immediately instituted a concentrated Code Enforcement Outreach Program and that program included defining a concentrated focus Code Enforcement area. We looked at and identified 126 multiple family dwellings along the Mission Street corridor from third street all the way out to Crocker Amazon and six and a half miles and 67 city blocks. We started to do the inspections. We have done about 35 of those because we need to send a comprehensive inspection package to the Property Owner so they learn in the future what theyre supposed to maintain on an onbasis. The fire chief mentioned there are lot of fires going on and last month especially some major fires occurs. For our Department Later on i will have my Deputy Director from inspection to explain how were going to respond each fire in the city. We have 24 hours inspection inspector to respond to any fire, major fire called by the Fire Department, and also i will have my housing inspection chief rosemary to make a presentation how our housing inspection perform. The inspection, especially regarding routine inspection. Before i turn over all this i want to tell you i echo with the chief. Education is number one priority the way i see. How are we going to educate the owner and the tenant . Especially regarding the fire Safety Equipment like the fire escape, Smoke Detector, Carbon Monoxide detector and the fire alarm system. Theyre important for the tenant. Also they realize in the room they need to have a Smoke Detector to get the Early Warning when there is a fire going on. For our Inspect
