The North Platte city council has approved the final designs of a vastly improved recreation center.

Meanwhile, proceeds from Lincoln County’s 4% lodging tax retreated in November but still moved 2023’s overall total within $2,547 of its calendar-year record of $1.204 million in 2022.

September’s net collections under North Plattes combined 2% sales tax exceeded $1.4 million for the third consecutive month, while Lincoln Countys lodging taxes set a September record with $128,317.

Net July collections from North Plattes 2% sales tax topped $1.42 million, high enough for the citys first-ever $1 million month at the permanent 1.5% rate.

North Plattes $260.9 million 2023-24 budget, which would cut the citys property tax request and rate, will receive a final City Council vote at a 5:30 p.m. special meeting Thursday.

Citing lack of progress, City Council members also revoked a 2019 conditional use permit for Creative Landscapes of Nebraska to develop a greenhouse, nursery and store on West Eugene Avenue.
