Governor Lamont Activates Severe Cold Weather Protocol

Published February 11, 2021 • Updated on February 11, 2021 at 1:03 pm NBCUniversal Media, LLC The end of the workweek and start of the weekend will be cold, with low temperatures in the single digits and teens and high temperatures in the 20s and the governor is activating the state’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol as of 3 p.m. today into next week. Governor Ned Lamont is directing Connecticut’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol to be activated beginning at 3 p.m. today through at least noon on Wednesday, Feb. 17 due to frigid weather. The governor said he might need to extend the duration of the protocol if the forecasted evening cold temperatures continue past next Wednesday.

Updated: 5:45 PM EST December 16, 2020 CONNECTICUT, USA Governor Ned Lamont announced on Wednesday he has activated Connecticut s Severe Cold Weather Protocol.  With the impending Nor easter, Lamont said he has activated the state s Severe Cold Weather Protocol will go into effect Wednesday at 3 PM. This means state agencies and municipalities will coordinate with the United Way 211 and the state s network of shelters to make sure the most vulnerable people get protection from the storm. Anyone in need of a shelter should call 211 to get connected to the services. The Governor s office said protocols have been put in place at the shelters throughout Connecticut to adhere to the necessary COVID-19 safety guidelines.

Author: Rick Lessard (FOX61) Updated: 10:30 PM EST December 16, 2020 CONNECTICUT, USA With the impending winter storm, Governor Ned Lamont provided updates on how Connecticut is responding.  Lamont said state offices are closed tomorrow for non-essential workers. A tractor-trailer ban was issued for 9 PM Wednesday night and 9 AM Thursday for all Connecticut highways. A travel advisory has also been issued for other vehicles.  According to CT s Department of Transportation, New York State has also issued a travel ban for empty and tandem tractor trailers for multiple highways including I-84, I-95, and I-287.
