the war of attrition in the east of ukraine is resulting in huge casualties on both sides. uk intelligence officials believe russian and russian backed separatist forces there have been devastated. they estimate the russian backed donetsk separtist militia alone has lost 55% of its original force. but russian forces continue to inch forward they are closing in on the beleaguered city of lysychansk which is also in the east. military sources told the bbc the russians are less than two miles away. local officials say about 7 to 8,000 civilians remain in lysychansk, from a pre war population of 100,000. our international correspondent orla guerin, and video journalist colm o molloy sent this report from outside the city. those who remain are witnessing the death of their city. this was a community art centre.
