JOHANNESBURG - The Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng provincial government's have lauded their top-performing matrics for helping place the provinces in the top four provinces in the country.
Gauteng achieved a pass rate of 83.8%, Western Cape 79.9% and KZN 77.6%.
Education MECs across South Africa held ceremonies to congratulate the class of 2020.
Western Cape Education MEC Debbie Schäfer said that she was pleased with the overall performance of the province.
Westville pupil is Harvard-bound

Durban - Westville Girlsâ High star pupil Colombe Obono Eyono, who like many other matriculants is waiting for her matric results âany day nowâ, is on her way to the United Statesâ prestigious Harvard University.
Born and bred in South Africa, of Cameroonian parents, she hopes to eventually contribute to the world by informing economic policy around decolonisation of colonial economic legacies. Her other interest is gender issues.
âI have been conscious of how destructive colonial and neo-colonial legacies are in African countries,â she said.
Obono Eyono hopes to major in economics and African studies at the Ivy League institution.
