On Friday afternoon as temperatures neared 100 degrees, the Colt Fire was estimated at about 200 acres but was growing in all directions, burning in heavy, dead and downed timber with frequent torching and spotting.
A national incident management team was called in as the Colt fire northwest of Seeley Lake grew from 15 to about 100 acres Thursday afternoon amid hot, dry weather that fomented active burning through timber.
