How did you first come up with the idea of mass-producing perovskite [a translucent crystal that can generate electricity when light shines on it]? What obstacles did you have to overcome before you could set up a production facility in Poland?
The idea of starting a company with the goal of large-scale production came from my business partners and co-founders of Saule Technologies. Piotr Krych and Artur Kupczunas believed in my ideas and the potential of perovskites. I trusted them entirely on the financial and business aspects, so that I could focus on finding a team to run research and on equipping the lab. In February 2021, the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI) announced that Cabinet agreed to establish a carbon capture and carbon dioxide (CO2) enhanced oil recovery (EOR) steering committee, responsible for managing the implementation of a large-scale CO2-EOR project in Trinidad. Potential oilfields identified for this project include those run by Heritage in Point Fortin, Guapo, Gran Ravine and Forest Reserve. The committee comprises members from the MEEI, Heritage, UWI and NGC.
BPC shares tank 66% after test well disappointment

Bahamas Petroleum Company’s (BPC) shares took a 66 percent dive yesterday after the company announced in a statement that it had come up short of commercially viable quantities of oil at its Perseverance #1 test well in the southern Bahamas.
BPC stated it will turn its focus to the Caribbean assets it acquired through a merger last year with Columbus Energy Resources.
The company noted in its statement that its cash balance stands at $12.5 million. The funds will go toward satisfying outstanding payments related to the test well, to the ongoing work program in Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname and to general working capital purposes.

Koot joined the board on 24 August 2020 following the merger of Bahamas Petroleum with Columbus Energy Resources.
Chairman Bill Schrader said: Leo has made a valued contribution to the board of BPC since he joined on completion of the merger with Columbus, and we are sad that his personal circumstances require his resignation at this exciting time for our company.
He will remain available to assist the company, as needed, under the terms of a consultancy agreement.
