“I was in complete shock when people told me Sim Scott Park was gone, and the damage that was done to Hunt (School),” remembered Fred Shelton. “I was like, ‘Really?’ So I sent someone over there, and they told me, ‘No, it’s really gone.’”
“When I became a PTO member in 2000 at Cook, we had 400 PTO people,” Chanda Williams said Thursday night. “Now there are five (at Fairview).” Williams was speaking at an event she and Recreation Director Greg Lewis organized at the Trotter Convention Center in an attempt to find a way to boost parental involvement, not just in the parks but also in the community at large.
