Comair, the operator of domestic airlines British Airways and Kulula.com, has suspended flights due to a lack of funding

The operator of Kulula and British Airways has suspended all flights until it secures additional funding from its investors, the process of which was under way. There was reason to believe that funding could be secured, the company said.

Comair has voluntarily suspended its flights.

A competitor believes Comair's woes could have been avoided by a more realistic ticket pricing strategy.

The company which operates the Kulula and British Airways brands in South Africa announced the suspension of all flights and ticket sales effective from Wednesday.

The troubled airline, which operates Kulula and British Airways, said it had run out of funds to stay in the sky but analyst Phuthego Mojapele said Comair was well aware of their financial situation but ignored all the red flags and acted in bad faith.

In May 2020, Comair filed for voluntary business rescue, similar to bankruptcy protection.

Most account fees will increase; SLOW Lounge benefits remain unchanged.

Once received the airline will be able to recommence operations.
