Teenage wrestling sensation Rebecca Williams won gold for Barbados at the 2023 United States of America National Beach Wrestling Championship at Carolina Beach, North Carolina over the weekend. Lawmen are investigating separate incidents which left two people nursing wounds on Wednesday.According to the Barbados Police Service’s Public Relations Officer Inspector Rodney Inniss, around 12.50 pm, a 30-year old man reported that he had been shot in his stomach by another man, whilst at the National Botanical Gardens in an area near to the Combermere School.He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance to undergo surgery and was said to be in critical, but stable, condition....

The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training (METVT) advises that as a result of smoke and ash emanating from a fire in its environs, Combermere School at Waterford, St. Michael is now closed. Classes are expected to resume tomorrow, Tuesday, March 21, following assessments by environmental health officials. The METVT regrets any inconvenience that the closure may cause.

The athletes from Extreme Velocity Club are back in Barbados after a successful trip last weekend to Canada where they won six gold and three silver medals.
