PICS: SANDF to assist with UN stabilisation mission in DRC

The South African National Defence Force will be deploying the South African Quick Reaction Force (RSA QRF) to the Force Intervention Brigade (FIB) in the United Nations Organization Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) in July 2021.
The RSA QRF will work closely with the FIB and the Tactical Intelligence Unit (TIU) currently deployed in the DRC in efforts to combat illegal Armed Groups and protect the vulnerable civilians.
The RSA QRF is under the command of Lt Col M.A. Saki and consists of over 200 personnel, fully equipped to perform their mandate.

Lithuanian military to join Defender Europe 21 exercise

Lithuanian military personnel will take part in Defender Europe 21, an annual large-scale US Army-led multinational exercise, the Armed Forces have said.
Since the bulk of this year s training events will occur in southern Europe, Lithuania will be represented in the exercise by host nation support task specialists. Their main task will be to provide the necessary support to Allied units moving via the country, according to the press release.
The main part of the exercise – tactical training and live firing drills – will be held in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Italy, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania and Croatia. Exercises involving small, easily redeployable Allied elements will take place in Estonia, Germany, Greece and Hungary.
