Business body offers rent-free O2 concentrators to workers | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: In a noble initiative undertaken amid the pandemic, Punjab’s biggest business association Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) on Sunday announced rent-free oxygen concentrator service, in which first preference will be given to workers and employees of their member factories. The needy can contact on CICU’s helpline number 8872899992 for availing this service, which has been started with 30 concentrators and the number will be increased in the coming days. Upkar Singh Ahuja, CICU president, said, “The government and the administration are doing their best to counter the deadly wave of coronavirus and it is the need of the hour that everyone who can provide any type of help should come forward. Online selling and e-commerce platforms, which have become most sought-after modes of sales in the country, were unfortunately not opted by a lot of Ludhiana factories so far. The ones that have taken to this model are of the view that though online selling is challenging, they will have to adapt to it. Industry associations of the city are also taking initiatives to help local units sell their products online.

Ludhiana: With coronavirus cases not slowing down and fatalities rising in the district, business associations have come forward to help the administration and the government. Several businessmen are already providing oxygen free of cost in huge quantities and during the past few days they have also deposited with the administration hundreds of cylinders lying in their factories. Besides, many vaccination camps have been organised by the industry in which not only workers and businessmen, but the public was also immunised. To overcome shortage of beds in hospitals, Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) has pledged to support the initiative of the administration to set up a 50-bed makeshift hospital at the Meritorious School in Civil Lines.
