Pedestrian bridge to be built over SR 100, enhancing Flagler trail system

1 week ago Share The bridge is funded by the Florida Department of Transportation and will be 18 feet above SR 100, near Colbert Lane. Flagler County is signing off on what could become one of its most visible landmarks: an A-frame pedestrian bridge over State Road 100 near Colbert Lane that will one day help to connect Lehigh Trail, Graham Swamp and the trails at Bulow Ruins State Park in southern Flagler County. Five contractors submitted bids for the Florida Department of Transportation-funded project to construct a path and the bridge, and Flagler County has selected Masci General Contractors bid of $9.48 million for the work the lowest bid.

A Carefully Contrite Kim Weeks Offers $20,000 Settlement, But Commissioners Don t Buy the Act--or the Trifle

Kimberle Weeks in a court hearing last July, when she Zoomed herself in, before she was ordered to jail to serve the 30 days of her sentence on felony convictions for illegally recording several individuals. (© FlaglerLive) Those who have been at the receiving end of her haughty wrath, her accusations, her distortions, her denigrations, her contempt for law and reckless disregard for the truth–like her perennial target County Attorney Al Hadeed and several former county commissioners–might be wondering where this Kimberle Weeks had been hiding all these years: the Kimberle Weeks who late Sunday submitted a letter to county and state officials fawning with regret, qualified apologies, a bit of contrition and other forms of mea culpa that until Sunday had seemed to her as foreign as courtesy. “If I could turn back time I sincerely would,” Weeks wrote.

Zero Doses of Vaccines for Flagler This Week, Few In Weeks Ahead

There were 398 confirmed new cases in Flagler in the week ending Saturday, by far a new record, with no letup in sight and no vaccines ahead. Click on the graph for larger view. (© FlaglerLive) There were as many new, confirmed coronavirus cases in the single week ending Saturday in Flagler County–398–than there’d been in the entirety of the pandemic from February through July 4. The prognosis for the days ahead is worse. And the county may get very little, if any, more vaccines over the next five weeks, local officials say. Bob Snyder, who heads the Flagler County Health Department, spoke as if at a wake when he updated the Flagler County Commission this morning, and in many ways it was. It was his grimmest update yet in nearly a year of reporting on the pandemic’s local consequences.

Flagler Commissioners Again Give Defiant Mullins a Pass

Flagler County Commissioners at today’s meeting. From left, Dave Sullivan, Joe Mullins, Donald O’Brien, and Andy Dance. Greg Hansen, who is ill, was absent. A few people addressing the Flagler County Commission this morning called on the resignation of Joe Mullins for sponsoring the travels to and taking part in last week’s protest-turned-riot on the U.S. Capitol. Mullins had days earlier called for the beheading of liberals and used commission letterhead to repeat the false narrative of a fraudulent election and urge Florida’s congressional election to overturn the presidential vote.  County commissioners–who three times last year refused to discipline or censure Mullins for bigoted, racist, offensive or threatening language, including insults and threats against fellow-commissioners–again mostly declined to address their colleague’s acts or behavior, with one exception: newly-seated Commissioner Andy Dance recommended a commission “retreat” or something like it
