Minimum fare increased from Rs 11 to Rs 18 for Uber and Ola cabs too; kiss those sweet, cheap fares goodbye
Cab aggregators in the City can no longer offer discounts and cheap fares at the
cost of drivers, whose daily expenses have gone up due to the increase in fuel and maintenance costs. After nearly three years, the
transport department has revised the minimum and maximum fares the companies, such as
Ola and Uber, can charge on customers. As the base fare and
charges on subsequent kilometre have been nearly doubled, the cost of travelling in cabs is set to go up.
Automated vehicle fitness centres to come up in all districts in 5 years
The Transport Department has proposed to build automated vehicle fitness centres in every district across Karnataka over the next five years. This is expected to put an end to the manual process of evaluating the condition of vehicles, which is currently taken over by the money-spinning agents. The shift is also in line with Centre’s new vehicle scrapping policy, details of which are yet to be made public.
