Couple days, there has been a fair share of reporting, some good, some bad, about what is transpiring in our great nation. And of all the department of defense and its leaders. I wanted to take a few minutes to address these issues in person to make clear the facts and offer my views. First, let me say up front, the killing of george floyd by a minneapolis policeman is a horrible crime. The officers on the scene that day should be held accountable for his murder. It is a tragedy that we have seen repeat itself too many times. Sympathy, i want to extend the deepest of condolences to the family and friends of george floyd from may and the department from me and the department. Racism is real in america and we must do our best to recognize it, to confront it, and to eradicate it. I have been proud to be a number of an institution, the United States military, that embraces diversity and inclusion and prohibits hate and discrimination in all forms. Kudos to Technical Service division who successfully completed the code update. This was a huge undertaking involving coordination and tight deadlines. Thanks to all the dbi staff. And finally, id like to recognize a great employee of our city for many years and who is just retired from the department of dbi, like to recognize bill strong. Is bill here . I owe him a big lunch because i was away when he retired. During his time, he impressed us very much with his knowledge and professionalism and attention to detail. I know i speak for my colleagues as well when i say we will miss him. He was a great anchor for the department and his history goes back to senator feinstein and i was talking to john about it earlier, he took a little time off in the middle and then back to dbi for, i believe, 13 years was the time . I dont know how many times i tried to upset bill and i could not. [laughter] and i made genuine efforts to do it. He was always a professional and managed to make things clear

In my district over the last ten years, ive last 400 units of Affordable Housing. On the east side of San Francisco, there are several amazing nonprofit organizations that help stabilize these buildings through acquisition and property management. On the west side, we simply do not have the organizational capacity to meet this need
