One of Georgia’s largest movie studios has changed hands. Ryan Millsap said he sold Blackhall Studios to Los Angeles-based private equity firm Commonwealth Group. The reported sales price was $120 million. Since opening in 2007, Blackhall’s complex, located 10 minutes south of downtown, has tripled in size. Its sound stages produce more than $500 million worth of content annually.

Blackhall, which is in the process of expanding its footprint in Georgia, also has studio projects in London and Los Angeles. Millsap said it was time for him to exit the Atlanta business and hand it off to a private equity firm that could "take a run at the next leg of the race."
