The Ohio Controlling Boardâs funding approvals at its last scheduled meeting of 2020 included funding for a gas station site cleanup project in Painesville.
According to board documents, the city of Painesville will receive more than $317,000 for the project at 750 S. State St.
The funds from the Abandoned Gas Station Clean Up Grant will be used for excavation of impacted soil, approximately 950 yards (estimated 1,700 tons), according to board documents.

âExpected excavation depth is eight feet to the top of groundwater,â the funding request stated. âShoring is needed to protect the on-site building and adjacent roadway. Imported clean backfill will be returned to the excavation. The on-site building will remain.â
