CKDO - Durham s Classic Hits - Seeds for Eco Communities and RainBarrel ca Partner for Second Year in Local Rain Barrel Fundraising Initiative

Hits : 66 Seeds for Eco Communities is an Ontario based not-for-profit that strives to provide educational tools and resources to anyone interested in establishing eco communities or living in an off-grid self-sustaining environment. Information is also shared to help those interested in beginning or continuing to move the yardstick towards a lower footprint life. This year, we have partnered with RainBarrel.ca for a second time and are currently holding a rain barrel fundraiser sale for residents of Barrie, Ajax, Pickering and Prince Edward County. Each rain barrel includes a leaf and mosquito filter basket, an overflow adaptor, a spigot and an overflow hose. 

CKDO - Durham s Classic Hits - Snap A Selfie with Sculpture

Hits : 330 PineRidge Arts Council is holding a Durham wide - Snap a Selfie with Sculpture contest on Instagram #sculpturesofdurham . We are encouraging people to get out of the house, have some fun in Durham, and take selfies with some or all of the over 70 outdoor public works of art in their neighbourhood. From simply visiting a local sculpture for the first time, to planning a grand tour to see all, the timing and choice of locations are open. In COVID times, this is a safe way to set an outdoor goal, socially distance and see the pieces that have been placed for our enjoyment. Some players might like to follow a sculptor s work throughout Durham and some may want to hold a competition with family and friends..

Sunday 28 February 2021, 01:00pm - 02:30pm Hits : 148 Archivist, Jennifer Weymark, explains how the Oshawa Museum learned about one of the first Black families in Oshawa. This lecture traces the lives of one of Oshawa’s first Black families. We follow the matriarch Wealthy as she travels from Vermont to Lower Canada and finally Upper Canada. Four generations of this family, living everyday lives, have exposed the biases and prejudice of the time, but also the strength and courage of conviction they had.

 The 2nd annual Endless Summer Fun Walk is going VIRTUAL! Join us and help support individuals and families in the Durham Region that have been affected by a cancer diagnosis.  All funds raised will help support Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre in Oshawa. This year you can walk the 1K or 5K from the comfort of your own home, on the streets of your neighbourhood, or in your local park. In fact, we don t even care if you walk! Did you know that 7.5 minutes of dancing = 1 km of walking?Or that 18 minutes of yoga = 1 km of walking?   In fact, there are many activities you could do to equal 1 or 5 km of walking..
