The BE BOLD Prize encourages new ways of thinking that move beyond traditional workforce development programs and embrace an innovative idea and solution for transformative community impact. Due to economic fallout from COVID-19, Broward s unemployment rate stood at 7.3 percent in November 2020, representing 73,879 unemployed Broward residents, according to the latest data released by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. That is more than double the County s 2.7 percent unemployment rate from November, 2019.

The Community Foundation of Broward is inviting applications for its Animal Welfare grant program to help animal shelters, rescue organizations, and/or wildlife centers strengthen their resources to continue to strategically reduce overpopulation; increase adoptions; rescue and rehabilitate; create healthy habitats; and eliminate animal suffering. The goal of this grant program is to ensure Broward’s animals, both wild and domesticated, is treated with respect and lives safely without threat, abuse or neglect. The foundation wants to create an environment where our domesticated and wild animals can live free from harm, abuse, and neglect. Sick, injured and homeless animals deserve proper treatment, protection, and care.
