$1 Million BE BOLD Prize to Get Broward Back to Work; Community Foundation Seeks Innovative Idea/Solution 73,879 Broward residents or 7.3 percent of the Broward workforce are currently unemployed News provided by Share this article Share this article FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Jan. 12, 2021 /PRNewswire/  Community Foundation of Broward (CFB) has announced a $1 million dollar BE BOLD Prize to get Broward County residents back to work within the next two years.  The BE BOLD Prize encourages new ways of thinking that move beyond traditional workforce development programs and embrace an innovative idea and solution for transformative community impact. Due to economic fallout from COVID-19, Broward s unemployment rate stood at 7.3 percent in November 2020, representing 73,879 unemployed Broward residents, according to the latest data released by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.  That is more than double the County s 2.7 percent unemployment rate from November, 2019. 

Community Foundation of Broward inviting Applications for Animal Welfare Grant

The Community Foundation of Broward is inviting applications for its Animal Welfare grant program to help animal shelters, rescue organizations, and/or wildlife centers strengthen their resources to continue to strategically reduce overpopulation; increase adoptions; rescue and rehabilitate; create healthy habitats; and eliminate animal suffering. The goal of this grant program is to ensure Broward’s animals, both wild and domesticated, is treated with respect and lives safely without threat, abuse or neglect. The foundation wants to create an environment where our domesticated and wild animals can live free from harm, abuse, and neglect. Sick, injured and homeless animals deserve proper treatment, protection, and care.
