The Carlsbad Senior Center reopened Tuesday and welcomed back seniors for in-person activities and lunch after being closed for 15 months because of the pandemic.
During that time, even though its doors were closed, the senior center distributed more than 61,000 meals to area senior citizens through curbside pickup or home delivery and got together online with seniors through virtual programs ranging from watercolor painting to Zumba.
Tuesday’s reopening included a ribbon-cutting by city officials, which drew several dozen folks.
Luncheon is now served again from noon to 1 p.m. in the dining hall, known as Paradise Cafe by the Sea, for seniors ages 60 and older with reservations. Reservations are required by noon the business day before at (760) 602-4650.
