WOOSTER – Wooster City Schools is not leaning into a five-day experience for instruction in the near future, Superintendent Michael Tefs told nearly 300 community members tuned into a virtual town hall Wednesday evening.
The district closed school buildings and transitioned to remote learning Nov. 20, which was scheduled to last through Dec. 14.
Due to lack of classroom space to physically distance students, along with the danger of rising COVID-19 cases locally, an in-person option five days a week does not seem safe or realistic, the superintendent said. I hope we re not always going to be judged about what we re doing for the kids in a negative perspective, because we also have 500 employees that we have to take into consideration, he said in response to a Wooster community member s comment. I have lost one employee to this disease. I do not want to lose any more.
