A Federal High Court sitting in Warri, Delta State has fixed January 31, 2024, to hear the application to vary the bail conditions and Notice of Preliminary objection filed by the human rights activist, Comrade Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho. Aghogho, who is the Delta State Chapter Coordinator of Take-It-Back Movement, a pro-democracy organisation, has been illegally detained in prison over an alleged cyberstalking charge. He took a fresh plea when the case came up on Monday before Justice M.I. Sani of the Federal High Court, Warri.
The Take-It-Back Movement has again called for the release of the group’s coordinator in Delta State, Comrade Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho. The call was made in a statement released by the human rights group, stating that other civil society organisations (CSOs) including Amnesty International and the Committee for the Defense of Human Rights (CDHR) had joined the struggle to ensure the release of Aghogho. Aghogho’s trial is fixed for March 28, 2023.
The Chief Magistrate (Special grade) of the Magistrate Court 1 Asaba, Mrs P.U Nsolo (Mrs) has claimed she acted in error over her issuance of a production warrant orchestrated by the police officers attached to the Delta State Police Command led by the Officer-in-charge Legal of the Command Headquarters, CSP. Fidelis N. Odunna.
The activist had been at loggerheads with the police in the state after he protested the lack of police vehicles for an investigation involving a child trafficking case.
