By Gordon Byrd Jul 18, 2021 ATLANTA A three judge appeals court panel has imposed a stay on an order that blocked C-D-C rules on cruise ships leaving Florida ports. The state of Florida sued the Centers for Disease Control to remove its rules on cruise ships. Tampa federal judge Steven Merryday agreed in June, saying in a 124 page ruling that the C-D-C rules threaten to damage the state s cruise industry. Late Saturday night, a panel of the 11th circuit court ruled 2-1 to stay Merryday s ruling while the CDC appeals it. The order came just minutes before Merryday s decision would have taken effect, limiting the CDC rules to the status of guidelines.
