GUWAHATI: The EC is all set to conduct the counting of votes in Assam on Sunday under tight Covid-19 safety measures amid rising number of cases
But there will be no victory rallies across the state and night curfew across the state will be in place. The commission stated that the winning candidate will only be accompanied by two persons while the cracking of fire crackers and usage of loud speakers have been prohibited and all persons will have to wear masks.
“Any victory procession or assembly at any public place during and after the counting on 02.05.2021 is prohibited,” a notification said.

Guwahati, May 2 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) or Mitrajot (Alliance of Friends) is set to form the government in Assam for the second consecutive time, as the ruling alliance according to the latest trends is likely to win 75 seats in the 126-member Assembly. The Congress-led Mahajot (Grand Alliance) is expected to win 45 seats.
The Election Commission (EC) is yet to declare the final result on any of the 126 seats as the counting of votes is still in progress in 34 districts across the northeastern state.

Guwahati (Assam) [India], May 1 (ANI): After three high-octane phases of polling and election rallies filled with enthusiastic supporters, the results of the Assam Assembly polls will be announced tomorrow by the election commission.
Incumbent Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is seeking a second term after a thumping win in the 2016 elections where the party ended Tarun Gogoi-led Congress 15-year rule, when it won 86 out of 126 seats.
This year, the main contest is between the alliances led by the BJP and Congress.
The BJP-led led alliance also includes the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and United People s Party Liberal (UPPL).
