Robert Yancy Jr., 39, was arrested about 45 miles southwest of the Brazoria County prison on Monday after fleeing from the Matagorda County lockup one day earlier, according to County Officials.

Robert Yancy Jr., 39, was captured after two civilians recognized him and called police, officials said.

Robert Yancy Jr., 39, escaped Sunday afternoon from the Clemens Unit in Brazoria and was last seen inside a 2021 white Nissan Versa, according to a TDCJ spokesperson.

Investigations in regards to the case began in January concerned the young Texas teen taking their own life.
