In January of 2020, we wrote an op-ed in this paper, pleading with Mayor de Blasio to fire Wayne Isaacs, the off-duty NYPD officer who killed our brother, Delrawn Small. We lost our brother on July 4, 2016 one day before Baton Rouge police killed Alton Sterling and two days before, outside St. Paul, Philando Castile was killed in his car in front of his girlfriend and her daughter. Officers in those cases were fired, but for the four-and-a-half years since Isaacs killed Delrawn, de Blasio and the NYPD have done everything possible to sweep this killing under the rug.
