Schiff right here a few weeks ago. >> h e said that he saw the, and i quote, smoking gun, and yet he s privileged to information that not even i or many of my colleagues would be able to see. he used that position.olut he absolutely aided and abetted a corrupt fbi into investigatins tia sitting president. not only did he bring dishonor to the house of representatives, buhet he reall ry destroyed, i think, the sense of camaraderie that we had in this country in pupushing an egregious lie that cos...

Phillip has the day off. my dad and all of the dads out there, thanks for spending your fathers day with us. were still 7 months for the first votes being cast for the 2024 republican primary. five candidates gracing the sunday shows today to make their case to voters. but like it or not, there is one question every republican contender must answer. should voters look past a federal indictment of the front-runner donald j. trump? >> i cant defend what is alleged. but the former president deserve...

2016 i was working on senator rand pauls campaign, and he was leading in the polls. thats how different the landscape was at that point. donald trump got in, and then donald trump just spiked in the polls and every candidate -- some candidates would attack him a little bit, but no one went that hard. they thought that they would get those voters and absorb them, and they never did. by contrast, you look at donald trump, this go-around already, he has managed to chip in to ron desantis and to jus...

In the single digits. and the cbs poll that has been taken since the indictment, trump is at 61%, desantis is at 23. thats a 38 point margin against the second place contender and a lot more against everybody else. if you look at the internals of the poles, abby, its even tougher for these challengers, because while 38% of republicans say that the charges are serious, 80%, four out of five, are saying that they believe the charges are politically motivated. so to take in any way shape or form th...

Think it was a very specific point here and a broader point. cnn specifically is trying to win its audience back in the wake of last months trump town hall giving him more than an hour of air time answering questions from voters and trump use that to attack cnn. so in the wake of that trump town hall which was widely criticised cnn the strength to win back its audience and show they are on the side of truth and on the side of his life thatis truth and on the side of his life that is a very speci...

Biden, trying to create this. it strikes me this is their strategy, the same trump strategy we have seen, defend,d because they dont have a lot else to go on. what is the alternative for them other than simply calling him out? >> it would be -- the alternative would be to allow justice to play out and the facts to prevail and let trump take his chances in a court of law. that risk is too high for them. you are exactly right, deflect, distract, deceive are the tricks of the trade when you dont ha...

Know for mr. trump it is only a fair election if he wins, but if there is a fair election and he becomes president, thats democracy. he becomes president. doesnt mean he stays president. it depends on what he does. he is likely to be wrathful and vindictive. he will certainly try to kick the wheels off of the lady libertys wagon. he doesnt necessarily remain president. he could be impeached depending upon what congress is in session. theres the 25th amendment that could be used. there are simila...

That at the time for what was going on there, that was the right call. donald trump is a contender. he is not in elective office. he may become the republican nominee. betting is that he will. he may or may not get elected. at the time of the election if he is the republican nominee, even if he is elected, he could have been tried for this espionage case. he could well have other indictments pending against him. it could even be possible he would be convicted and sentenced to jail and youd have ...

Watching this, to give us a big picture here. we havent really dug deep into a lot of the details of it, but i was thinking about how america didnt go through this with vice president agnew, a deal was made. they didnt go through this with richard nixon. a deal was made. this is truly, if we sit back and take a breath for a minute, something we dont just say it. it is true, unprecedented in every possible way. what do you see when youre looking at a courthouse where now the former president of t...
