DVIDS - News - CR Airmen test ACE capabilities with MAF, CAF aircraft

13 Airmen from the 821st Contingency Response Group demonstrated agile combat employment capabilities while working with Mobility and Combat Air Forces, during Exercise Rainier War, April 26-30 at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho. Rainier War brings together multiple units from across Air Mobility Command and Air Combat Command to test ACE capabilities in a simulated contested and operationally limiting environment. The ACE concept aims to develop Airmen who are proficient in disciplines outside of their normal day-to-day duties. Exercises like this contribute to the evolution of a force of multi-capable Airmen and aircrew, improving mission readiness and increasing capabilities in less than optimal environments.

Travis airman dies en route to base hospital TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE An airman assigned to the 860th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Travis Air Force Base died Friday while en route to David Grant Medical Center from his on-base residence. The deceased airman was identified by base officials as Tech. Sgt. Aaron Cardin, 42, of Shelton, Washington. Cardin entered the Air Force May 9, 2013, and arrived at Travis Dec. 3, 2020. Cardin served as the lead technician for the electro-environmental shop for the C-17 Globemaster III. First responders were called to his on-base residence for emergency services. He died during transport to the hospital. The cause of death has not been determined at this time, base officials report.

33 Airmen from the 435th Contingency Response Support Squadron and the 606th Air Control Squadron traveled to Croatia to host a class from March 15 to April 2 for Croatian and Slovenian air force military students to increase their Control and Reporting Center’s capabilities. CRCs are vital in guiding aircraft through their assigned area during a mission. They also enhance Agile Combat Employment capabilities by making sure CRCs operated by partner countries and allies can speak the same tactical language. “CRCs are responsible for battle management, weapons control, surveillance and link management,” said U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt.
