Updated: 6:22 PM CDT Jun 29, 2021 For the first time, Wisconsin health officials are releasing new data on the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine.Continuing Coverage: Coronavirus in WisconsinState officials reported that 95% of recent COVID-19 deaths involved people who were not fully-vaccinated.Health officials said they predicted the numbers from the start.They emphasized that COVID-19 vaccines are extremely effective at preventing serious illness and death. No vaccine is 100% effective, but these vaccines are about as close to that as any vaccine has been able to do, said chief quality officer Dr. Jeff Pothof at University of Wisconsin Health.The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported that 95% of people who died from COVID-19 complications since March were not fully vaccinated.
