Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil told Sky News that the discredited practice was still a widespread issue for gay people in India today.

Michigan authorities passed a new legislation that bans conversion therapy targeting LGBTQ youth as lawmakers argue the discredited practice is dangerous.

The practice aims to get gay, lesbian or transgender individuals to change their sexual orientation or gender identity through a number of techniques, like hypnosis or electric shocks.

Michigan has become the 22nd state in the nation to ban conversion therapy for minors after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed two bills into law Wednesday, prohibiting any counseling to convince LGBTQ minors to change.

It's the 22nd state to do so.
