A long-closed pub in the town centre is set to be brought back into use. Elsewhere in the town, a pub could get a new sign to reflect its namesake.

The Broadlind was designed as “exclusive bachelor apartments” for men. The rooms were built “with rugged masculine character in the decorations and fixtures.”

Only about 7% of the structures in the 90802 ZIP code are detached single-family homes, with the majority of them in the eastern part of the ZIP, in Alamitos Beach.

While city leaders have said they’re working to address the problem, they gave few specific answers on how the Downtown area could be immediately helped.
