BAGHDAD (Reuters) -Three government ministers backed by ousted Iraqi parliament speaker Mohammed Halbousi will resign their positions in protest of a ruling by Iraq's top court to terminate his tenure on Tuesday, a statement by Halbousi's Taqaddom party said.

An Iraqi base on the outskirts of Baghdad came under a rocket attack in the past two days, revealed military sources. The attackers of the Saqr base south of Baghdad remained unknown amid speculation that the authorities were trying to stop news about the development from spreading. It is believed that the assault was American retaliation to attacks by pro-Iran factions on American troops in Iraq. The sources also said the attack may have been carried out by Israel.

Iraq's government spokesman Bassem al-Awadi said that the proposal to close the US Embassy in Iraq is a decision that could “destroy Iraq”. In an interview with al-Ahed channel, which is affiliated with Asaib Ahl al-Haq, Awadi said that Iraq has international obligations, and any decision that targets the diplomatic missions would affect Iraq's foreign ties.
