In 2022, Apple filed for three distinct patents that represent a single iPad accessory device project. Clearly Apples engineers are working on variants of the device that Apple executives could then choose from for a final product. Today the US Patent & Trademark Office published a patent application from Apple that relates to modularized computing devices having removably attached components. As Apples competitors are preparing large foldable tablets that double as a notebook, Apples engineers have gone one step further with a modularized MacBook-like device that could morph into various types of computing devices by adding various accessory components.
