As it stands, six Illini alums in the NFL are on playoff teams: Nick Allegretti of the Kansas City Chiefs, James Crawford (practice squad) of the Baltimore Ravens, Justin Hardee of the New Orleans Saints, Del’Shawn Phillips (Injured Reserve) of the Buffalo Bills, Jihad Ward of the Ravens and Tavon Wilson of the Indianapolis Colts.
We’ll give all of those players a grade once the NFL playoffs are over. For now, let’s take a look back and give a grade to those Illini alums on teams who failed to make the playoffs cut in this wacky 2020 season.

We’re nearing the end of the NFL season. There’s just one more week to go. Some Illini will make the playoffs. Others will not.
Kudos to Clayton Fejedelem, a man who welcomed a baby boy into his family
and nailed two big special teams plays in the only way Fej could for his Miami Dolphins.
, defensive end: Last week against the Jaguars, Ward was a
healthy scratch. Ward played in Weeks 13 and 14, missed Week 15 and in this Week 16, Ward was active against the New York Giants on Sunday. He had 1 sack and an additional QB hit.

The Houston Texans have placed starting right tackle Tytus Howard on injured reserve, ending his 2020 season. This comes after suffering a concussion during their 27-20 loss to the Indianapolis Colts last week, which ended in Howard spending the night in the hospital.
This marks the second-straight season that has ended with Howard on IR, after playing just eight games as a rookie in 2019 before being lost to a knee injury.
The 23rd-overall pick last season showed his promise immediately, making the PFWA All-Rookie Team despite only playing half of the season. Having started all 14 games so far this season, the former Alabama State Hornet has established himself as one of the better young tackles in the league and a building block for this Texans offense moving forward.
