Machine Gun Kelly has teamed up with musician and popular internet personality Corpse (also known as Corpse Husband) for new song “Daywalker.” It’s the rapper/punk rocker’s first new single of 2021. He began teasing it earlier this week, sharing the gruesome cover art via Twitter.
“I wanna know if I tell you a secret will you keep it?” each of them ask in their vampiric, bloodthirsty verses, each detailing ways they will violently get revenge on those who have done them wrong. The sentiments are punctuated by their repeated chanted refrains to “Fight” on the chorus over a foreboding soundscape.
To kick-off 2021, MGK premiered his 49-minute short film Downfalls High on Facebook. His directorial debut was a brilliant success, netting a combined whopping 16 million views on Facebook while trending in the top five on Twitter in countries such as Germany (No. 2), Poland (No. 3), UK (No. 3), Italy (No. 4) and Portugal (No. 4).
This week, Tickets to My Downfall standout record my ex s best friend dashes to No. 1 on Billboard s Alternative Airplay. The song previously topped Billboard s Rock Streaming Songs chart last August. Today, my ex s best friend sits at No. 36 on the US Spotify chart. In January, MGK wowed TV viewers with his stirring Saturday Night Live performance of Lonely. Entertainment Tonight had glowing praise for his rendition, saying: MGK’s second performance really showed the range of his style and substance, as he delivered a remarkably beautiful and emotional performance of his song Lonely.
Tickets to My Downfall, is turning back to his rap roots, at least on Daywalker, the collaborative track with the popular and mysterious YouTube personality Corpse Husband, also known simply as Corpse.
The track clocks in at just under two-and-a-half minutes and is centered around an eerie, horror-themed melody that aligns perfectly with Corpse s YouTube theme of disturbing stories that are designated as fake, alleged or true. MGK is the more vibrant of the two on this song as Corpse, who has over seven million YouTube subscribers, retains his signature, deep, modulated voice.
