Fifty-five inmates at the Auckland women's prison have been put in isolation, and 21 staff stood down, after a Corrections worker contracted Covid-19

A staff member tested positive yesterday morning. Now, 55 prisoners and 21 staff at Auckland Region Women's Corrections Facility are isolating .

The 40-year-old man appeared in the Hamilton District Court this morning and has been granted interim name suppression.

The review will look at whether Corrections practices are consistent with the law and policies and procedures. It's one of many sparked by the treatment inmates at Auckland Women's Prison.
