State and federal leaders are optimistic a proposed passenger rail corridor from Wilmington to Raleigh will gain federal funding when grants are announced in two months.

The carrier said it is working with private rail developer Texas Central Partners to seek federal funds to further determine viability of reviving the stalled project.
