More than a thousand men and women allege they were physically or sexually abused as children at the Sununu Youth Service Center in Concord, N.H., between 1960 and 2019.

Moon, Pinard, and Ricker all filed civil lawsuits against the state under Jane Doe pseudonyms, but have decided to drop their anonymity because of the man they say raped them.

“They’re complicit to sexual physical violence in this institution for over 40 years because for over 40 years, they’ve done nothing.”

Close to 1,000 men and women have sued the state alleging physical, sexual or emotional abuse at its only youth detention center. But the slow pace of the criminal and civil proceedings has some calling for the federal Department of Justice to step in.
