HOUSTON -- Blake Corum ran for 134 yards and two fourth-quarter touchdowns as Jim Harbaugh and No. 1 Michigan -- undeterred by suspensions and a sign-stealing case that shadowed the program -- completed a three-year climb to a national championship by beating No. 2 Washington 34-13 Monday night in the College Football Playoff title game.

Faced with 2nd & 7 on the Washington 12 yard line, leading 20-13 midway through the fourth quarter, Michigan gave the ball to Blake Corum. With three TEs to the bottom of the formation, the Wolverines pulled AJ Barner across, along with left guard Trevor Keegan running to the right. Barner hit his block but Keegan wasn't quick enough to get to Washington LB Alphonzo Tuputala, who had a free run at Corum. The diminutive running back saw Tuputala to his outside and cutback inside.

Harbaugh looked into NFL jobs the last two years before deciding to stay at Michigan. It’s possible he won’t this time, especially with the school facing possible NCAA sanctions. There is also the question of what’s left to accomplish in Ann Arbor.
