Ambassador to the United Nations stated opposition to the nigerianled proposal saying it would hurt ongoing negotiations for a hostage release deal and longterm peace. The resolution failed when the United States voted against it. The final tally was 13 yes vote, one no, one abstention. This is two hours and 15 minutes. The 9,252nd meeting of the Security Council is called to order. The agenda for the meeting is the situation in the middle east including the palestinian question. The agenda is adopted. In accordance with rule 37 of the councils provisional rules of procedure, i invite the representatives of israel, qatar, and tunisia to participate in this meeting. It is so decided. I propose that the council invite the permanent observer of the observer state of palestine to the United Nations to participate in this meeting.
