TOURISM businesses in Copeland are being encouraged to sign up to an initiative promoting the county’s fantastic visitor attractions to residents. The first ever Cumbria Residents’ Week will take place from October 2 to October 10, with all businesses operating in the visitor economy invited to take part. It is hoped that the scheme will help the business community bounce back from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic by encouraging residents to sample the great attractions, venues, eateries, hotels and shops on their doorstep. Copeland has joined forces with Cumbria Tourism and the county s five other district councils to take part.

TOURISM businesses from across west Cumbria can attend a breakfast briefing where they can hear specialist advice and latest updates from the sector. Copeland Council is teaming up with Allerdale Council to jointly host the virtual event on February 12 at 8.30am. Key speakers include Cumbria Tourism’s chief executive Gill Haigh, and information will be available on the various Covid-19 grants on offer to support businesses. Attendees will also learn more about planning considerations for motorhome and campervan sites, receive updates on the latest tourism initiatives in both Copeland and Allerdale, and have the chance to take part in a question-and-answer session.
