this weekend as the start of a week of protests and festivities, with the goal of being to stop the construction of this proposed $90 million, 85-acre police and fire training facility. it would be the largest of its kind in the country, if it ends up being built. and what according to police, they say happened, at least 35 people were taken into custody. they say several of those that were detained were from outside of the atlanta area. and this really has become a staging area for activists across the country to protest police and we have seen several acts of violence in recent months. listen to what police had to say at a press conference late last night. this is not appropriate. this is criminal activity. and the charges that will be brought forth will show that. when you throw commercial-grade fireworks, when you throw molotov cocktails, large rocks, a number of items at officers, your only intent is to harm. reporter: opponents of this fire and police training facil
top of the hour. thank you for joining us in this cnn newsroom. i m erica hill. i m jim chsciutto. the ntsb investigators are headed back to ohio. they have more concerns after a new crash there. and now, there is a police training facility where there was protesters who set a vehicle on fire and there was a clash there. and we will look at the look next of former president trump and governor desantis as they head to ohio this week. and we go to jason carroll who is on the scene there in ohio, and i understand, jason, that the ntsb investigators are going to be headed to the scene today, and we understand that we have new information about the crash and what the train was carrying, and is there a risk to the citizens there? yes, the ntsb say that there is no risk to the residents here, but within a month s time, a second crash here, and you can see that one of the cars here is still on the side here, and the investigators will be coming out to sort out what happened
today. happening right now, the ntsb investigators are on the scene in ohio at oaf norfolk southern train wrecked in the state. the ntsb says no hazardous materials were released in that wreck after 28 train cars derailed in springfield on saturday. it prompted shelter in place orders for residents. it comes a month after the norfolk southern state crash in east palestine, ohio. crews are still working to remove that contaminated soil and liquid from the site. jason carroll is? springfield now. jason, what are you learning now about this latest crash in. reporter: the ntsb is planning to hold a briefing about two hours from now, abby, at 3:00. hopefully at that point we ll get more guidance, perhaps, in terms of exactly what happened here. we can tell you in terms of the latest derailment, it occurred on saturday about 3:00. there was a man there who caught it on his cell phone just as the training were tipping off. 28 trains out of 200 cards derailed, but again we are bein
