Good news for some residents near the Mosquito Fire. The El Dorado County Sheriffs Office and fire officials have changed portions of Georgetown from mandatory evacuations to an evacuation warning status. Effective immediately, people living in the following areas may begin repopulation:

UPDATE 7 p.m Thursday: Fire officials have updated the acreage burned to 13,705 acres. The fire made a 5,000-acre run today in a matter of 2-3 hours, working into El Dorado County. In a community meeting tonight, they joined Placer County officials to update the public on the status of the Mosquito Fire.
