BMW unveils hardcore M5 CS
The M5 CS uses a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8
The new M5 CS has arrived, taking the title as the fastest and most powerful BMW M production car ever.
The latest car to wear the Clubsport nameplate – which is also used on the smaller M2 – the M5 CS boasts a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine with 626bhp – 9bhp more than the M5 Competition.
Bronze accents feature across the car
It means that the performance saloon will go from 0-60mph in under three seconds and hit 124mph from a dead stop in just 10.4 seconds. Flat out, the CS will achieve an electronically limited top speed of 189mph.
After it was set loose at the Hockenheim-GP circuit last month with SportAuto’s Christian Gebhardt at the wheel, the 2021 BMW M5 CS was recently taken to the Lausitzring for another fast lap.
The YouTube channel now put Guido Naumann in the driver’s seat, and he managed to complete the course in 1:31.88, around one and a half seconds faster than the M5 Competition.
According to FastestLaps, the new M5 CS was faster than the Porsche 911 (991) GT3, Audi R8 V10 Performance and Jaguar XE SV Project 8, which posted a 1:32.00, 1:32.11 and 1:32.15 respectively. The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S was clocked at 1:32.32 and the Porsche Taycan Turbo S and BMW M8 Gran Coupe Competition crossed the finish line in 1:32.76 and 1:32.96.
