A former Twitter employee from the company's employee benefits department has filed suit against the company, claiming it owes at least $500 million in severance to laid-off employees.
Twitter has been sued by a former employee who claims the company refused to pay a total of $500 million in promised severance pay. A week after Elon Musk bought Twitter last fall, half the staff was laid off. The cuts have continued since then and the workforce has shrunk from around 7,500 to around 2,000 people. Many people made redundant received no pay at all, according to the lawsuit. Twitter has denied the allegations and has previously been sued for, among other things, not paying bonuses.
