At their meeting Tuesday, board members discussed the possibility of either a standalone survey that would likely cost the township between $10,000 and $16,000 or including marijuana questions in its triennial community survey.
No decision was made regarding the survey, with board members asking for additional survey companies to be queried and for a smaller margin of error.
Treasurer Phil Deschaine pushed hardest for community input regarding recreational marijuana sales in the township.
"We owe it to our residents before we take any more steps towards this ordinance, to find out what they believe about it," Deschaine said.
In an interview, Deschaine said he would not "stand in the way" of the township opting in to the recreational market if a majority of respondents to the survey indicate their support.
