rob roth has the story. this video was shot by chronicle political reporter carla eight days ago and floated on the paper s web site. it shows a peaceful protest that included singing during an appearance by the president at the saint regis hotel. but the chronicle is reporting today that the white house is threatening to exclude her from being the pool reporter of presidential events in the bay area because she used a video instead of only sticking to her written report. for her to use video is appropriate as a tool and then to be punished is outrageous. the white house issued a statement today. the san francisco chronicle violated the coverage rules that they and every other media outlet agreed to. however, no reporters have been banned from covering future presidential events.
