covid vaccination in maharashtra: Live & Latest News Updates : Vimarsana.com

Just 8% of 45+ population fully vaccinated in Maharashtra, 34% have got 1st dose | Mumbai News

Representative Image Maharashtra has fully vaccinated barely 7.6% of its 3.9 crore 45+ citizens, shows data compiled till May 26 by the public health department. The first dose has been given to 34% of this population. A shortage of vaccine has hampered the drive, and the state still has nearly 2.5 crore people in the age group who are yet to receive a shot. Vaccination in two categories — over 60 and 45+ (with underlying conditions) — began on March 1. The drive was opened to all over 45 on April 1. Also, full coverage for healthcare workers (HCWs) and frontline workers (FLWs), which should have been total by now, is still far from the target, said the state family welfare bureau recently. Nearly 1.4 lakh Covishield recipients among HCWs and over 23,000 Covaxin recipients are still to get their second doses till May 23. About 79% have got their first shots. Among FLWs, 92% have got the first jab, but 89,000 are still awaiting the second dose till May 23.

Vax drive for 18-44 in Maharashtra may be frozen till June 1 on expert advice | Mumbai News

Representative image MUMBAI: In view of the massive shortage of vaccines in Maharashtra, the state task force has advised the MVA government to suspend the drive for 18-44 years till June 1, by which time more doses are expected to be available, TOI has learned. By Tuesday evening, many districts had gone ahead and suspended vaccination for the 18-44 age-group altogether, although Mumbai has not taken such a call. BMC officials said they haven’t decided to suspend the drive yet, but a decision may come in a day or two if vaccine shortage becomes more acute. The Maharashtra government had earlier in the day decided to divert nearly 2.75 lakh Covaxin doses that were purchased for the 18-44 group to complete the second doses for the older group.

No vaccinations for 18-45 age group from May 1 due to shortage: Maharashtra government | Mumbai News

A citizen will be vaccinated for free only at government-run centres. Citizens will have to pay for vaccines at private facilities, the minister says. (AFP) MUMBAI: The Covid-19 vaccination drive beginning May 1 cannot be launched in Maharashtra because of the unavailabily of sufficient doses of vaccines even as the state on Wednesday extended the current lockdown-like restrictions till May 15 given the rise in the Covid-19 cases. State Health Minister Rajesh Tope also said the people in the age group of 18 to 44 years will receive free vaccines at state-run centres but citizens will have to pay for the jabs at private facilities.

Covid vaccination: Low turnout due to Co-WIN app glitches, says Maharashtra health minister | Mumbai News

Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope. (Photo: ANI) MUMBAI: A day after the state recorded just 52.6% turnout on the second day of the vaccination drive, Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope said that it was not correct to compare the turnout everyday as now the immunisation program would continue every week for four days. He said that the low turnout was due to the problems with the Co-WIN app and there was also some hesitancy among healthcare workers for which the state government would launch an awareness campaign. "We will be reaching out to all the 8 lakh healthcare workers registered for the first phase. This campaign will hopefully put all their doubts to rest," said Tope.
