A new show by Banksy opens this Sunday in Glasgow, revealing for the first time the stencils used to create many of the artist’s most iconic works.

The closing of Reading Gaol marks a time in the town’s history as significant as the release of Oscar Wilde from the institution 120 years ago.

We have rounded up some of the biggest stories from Reading this week, just in case you missed them.

NEW artwork has appeared on the side of Reading Gaol just metres from where Banksy’s famous design stands.

The artist has offered to sell the stencil he used for a mural on the jail, to help raise funds to turn it into an art centre

A cancelled train to Reading led Bansky to paint a £15m piece of graffiti on the town’s disused prison, the artist has revealed.

The anonymous artist plans to raise £13 million by selling a stencil used to paint Create Escape, a mural on the side of the building depicting a prisoner escaping down bedsheets.

Banksy has said he wants to raise millions of pounds to save HMP Reading, which once held Oscar Wilde.

Banksy intends to raise funds for the purchase by selling their street art painted on the outer wall of the prison.
